This route is one of the most scenic and diverse routes to the summit of Kilimanjaro. We recommend a 7-day hike to ensure proper acclimatization, but the route can also be completed in 6 days. Thanks to its topography that allows hikers to climb high and sleep low.
Day 1 - Machame Gate to Machame Camp
After a trekking brief at your hotel/Lodge. We'll start with a transfer to Machame Gate before embarking on an 11 km hike to Machame Camp, gaining an elevation of 5,400ft to 9,400ft. The lush rainforest habitat offers picturesque views and a challenging yet rewarding trek. Our experienced guides will ensure your safety every step of the way. Dinner and overnight at Machame Camp
Day 2 - Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Machame Camp to Shira Camp climb is an interesting climb for anyone looking to experience the beauty of Tanzania's moorland zone and breathtaking glaciers. With an elevation of 9,400ft to 12,500ft, this 5km hike will take you 4-6 hours, giving you plenty of time to take in the stunning scenery. Follow our expert guides and take a break for lunch before continuing up to the Shira plateau, where you'll be able to see both the Western Breach and its stunning glaciers. Dinner and overnight at Shira Camp.
Day 4 - Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
Embark on the toughest but most rewarding day of your trek with our Shira to Barranco Camp experience. Our expert guides will support you every step of the way as you make your way through the semi-desert terrain. Covering 10 km and altitudes of 12,500ft to 13,000ft, this hike offers unmatched views and a unique challenge. Don't let the symptoms of breathlessness, irritability, and headaches hold you back - with our support, you'll make it to the Barranco camping site feeling accomplished.
Day 5 - Barranco to Barafu Camp
This is an incredible trek from Barranco to Barafu Camp, through some of the most spectacular terrain on earth. Covering 9km of distance over 8-10 hours, our expert guides will take you on a once-in-a-lifetime journey you won't forget. With an elevation of 13,000ft to 15,000ft, you'll navigate the Alpine Desert and cross the epic Great Barranco Wall while exploring the beauty of the African wilderness like never before.
Day 6 - Barafu - Summit - Mweka Camp
Are you ready to conquer one of the world's most impressive peaks? Experience the ultimate adventure. With an elevation of 15,300ft to 19,345ft (and down to 10,000ft) and a distance of 5 km ascent/12 km descent, this tour will challenge even the most experienced hikers. But don't worry, you'll have our expert guides to support you every step of the way. Dinner and overnight at Mweka Camp
Day 7 - Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Our Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate tour is the perfect way to complete your climb. The hike back to the park gate takes only 3-4 hours and offers stunning rainforest views along the way. Once you reach the gate, climbers can register their names and details and receive their summit certificates. Our expert guides and porters will sing for you with traditional Kilimanjaro songs, and the jovial mood will make you feel proud of your accomplishments.
